...It's been a long time

Making Money Online As An Inexperienced Teenager

Who could use some money right now? We all do. A teen living under his/her parents’ roof, translates to financially dependent youth with nothing to maintain but his ego. For most of us, the only way we ever get spend is through our lunch money (Wow, COVID-19 certainly snapped that away from us like Thanos). If you spend it all on lunch, you have nothing, unless of course, if you have savings, which is ubiquitously true for teenagers who have the discipline, but for most of us, we just don’t have enough control of ourselves.

I don’t know about you guys, but I stammer asking my parents for money. Every single fucking time, that’s why I don’t even attempt. So whatever conundrum, I deal with without asking my parents for anything. That’s a heavy-duty I-don’t-need-you-im-on-my-own life drama--that I want you to realize, is not the most clever way to deal with things (so don’t be like me).

Below are the ways to go about, making money online. What I love most about the activities that I listed, is that they all can be done depending on the schedule that you have. But who are we kidding? We have all the time in the world, especially during this pandemic. So get working!

HOW TO MAKE MONEY ONLINE AS A TEENAGER

1. Transcription

Perks of being a native English speaker: having a hearing advantage, and cultural context. Lucky! Do you watch films in English, and doesn’t necessitate the use of subtitles? Good, because in this job, you’re going to be the one who makes it. This is not the only way to go tho, for it can also (most often) be an interview that you will transcribe, or even commercials.

There are tons of companies out there on the web that are willing to hire you. Most transcription jobs don’t require you to work around the clock. You can do them at any time you want. A great site to get you going is rev.

Rev is one of the highest paying transcription sites to date. The range of pay is at $0.30-$1.10/ per audio or video minute. In order for you to land a job at rev, you need to pass there 2 part test that includes; basic grammar; and transcription, following their guidelines.

2. Blogging

Not only is it a hobby, but you can also profit from it, in many ways. The best thing about blogging is it enables you to express who you are and not fail at it. Because unlike public speaking, wherein there’s a lot of factors affecting you, in delivering a good conviction, blogging gives you the luxury of time to draft, and to draft again! I don’t know about you guys, but this is what I really adore about blogging.

But also, unlike homework, you get something from it! Incentives through ad revenue. You can apply for Media.net, Adsense, InfoLinks etc., to host ads on your site. Aside from great content, what you will need (and this can be a handful) is research. You would want to know more about how exactly you can optimize your content, and drive traffic to your blog. Right now, just think of a niche that you’re really passionate about.

3. Making Youtube videos

If you’re friends with the camera, therefore, not reserved or bashful, the job description for a Youtuber, will fit you just fine. You just know someone is suited to become a YouTuber, when you literally feel them, light up the room as they enter. You hear about Lele Pons, The Dolan Twins, James Charles, and LARRAY.

Want your name to be a word of mouth? Easy, become a YouTuber. But we both know it’s not rocket science. You’ll have to; one, pick a niche; two, upload great content (a content, that you see yourself watching); three, follow guidelines to success (an example is the 15-second rule, which believes that the first 15 second into the video, is the most important in order to keep people watching); four, analyze your target audience (what they like, and figuring out a way to interact with them); and a lot more to cover.

You can monetize your content when you reach, at least a thousand subscribers, and have at least 4,000 hours of watch time within the past 12 months. What a way to discourage, right? But you can always advertise through affiliate marketing using your videos, even without having to reach that mark. Honestly, I’m putting my faith in you. If this is something that you want to pursue, then don’t let those numbers dispirit you.

4. Answering surveys

If you’re someone who spends a great amount of time on the internet, playing online games, or shopping, then it’s about time you put those hours into good use, by answering surveys! Yay!

Filling out simple survey questionnaires online is a no brainer, and can be the easiest way to make money in the comfort of your chair. Usually, the questionnaires that you will answer are for companies’ research, an action made to improve their brands. These surveys can take about 5-30 minutes of your time and can be generous at payment.

To maximize your way to earn more, you can sign up to various sites simultaneously, so that you will not have to wait for a new survey, but have multiple choices coming from different survey sites. The best survey sites include Inbox Dollars, Prize Rebel, MySurvey, and many more for you to discover.

5. Sell your art online

If you have a hand of an artist, a creative mind, and a canvas, you might as well consider selling your Obra Maestra online. Face it, acrylic is expensive, and you need maintenance. As much as you might love your art that you want to keep it for yourself, you can’t deny, you have no room left to store it.

Not only will you sell it, but you’ll also have a name for yourself! Imagine having a full catalog or portfolio on your shop page. Imagine how you can customize your Etsy page, or Shopify page, the way you like it. Imagine sending out your art, later to be found on the doorsteps of your customers, and sending them “thanks for your purchase!” I can only see a win-win situation here.

You can also sell stuff that you don’t use anymore, like those Harry Potter books in the shelves, still sealed, that you didn’t bother reading, iPod that you haven’t use after Angry Birds went downhill (hopefully it’s still functional), basically anything except used clothes-- which Shane Dawson did on eBay, and was removed after it was bided for a whopping $100,000.

    1. I've tried transcription all I can say is that it's not for those who doesn't have patience or easily gets bored, haven't tried blogging but I do have a youtube account , selling my art is not yet possible I still suck at drawing hahaha. Over all it's a nice article I would suggest you include the links or websites of the above mentioned subjects because these days it's hard to find a legitimate site for earning money, If you want to sell art I recommend artstation.com, well that's about it.
